I first heard about the super typhoon Yolanda days ago, when it was first detected brewing in the Pacific Ocean .Internationally named " Haiyan ", it is predicted to be the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines this year.
The first thing that crossed my mind was the possibility of not being able to do my daily online tasks, which included writing articles for an SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) company , posting advertisements on an online shopping site ( Amazon and eBay ) , and clicking on advertisements , PTC as it is commonly called.
Power and internet interruption would be a major dillema for me because it would thwart my ability to do these odd jobs, which is a major source of online income for me, in addition to my regular job as a customer service representative for an outsourced American company .
Thus, I took the steps to somehow prepare myself for this upcoming natural disaster . Without power and electricity, it would be a harrowing experience but nevertheless , I prepared for the worst.
The first thing I did was to fully charge my laptop, and all three cellphones that I own.
I then bought bottled water , food , candles , batteries for my flashlights , and withdrew some money from my bank account.
The next thing I did was to secure all the upstairs windows in the two-story house where I lived.
All breakable objects were placed in a safe corner .Linen and towels ready just in case I would need them, and prepared rugs and dry cloth to wipe our marble floor with . I knew the inside of our house would be drenched with rainwater, as witnessed from previous typhoons wherein rain would somehow slip through the cracks and holes on the roof .
I was worried about the trees and electricity posts surrounding our home . There are two trees that are at least a hundred years old that will risk getting knocked down by the strong winds brought by the typhoon.
That, and then there are the people of Bohol, who just very recently got struck by a magnitude 7.2 earthquake.
I thought about the earthquake victims living in make-shift tents . The children and the elderly, who will be exposed to hurricane force winds and torrential rains.
I can only but hope that there typhoon yolanda will not bear any casualties.
I looked at the dark clouds looming above me and felt a twinge of fear.
It will be here . Soon.
And all we can do is brace ourselves.

These days professionals are using their spare time to earn money online. They do tasks online and makes some extra cash.
